A teaching artist for NARS Foundation's Free Saturday Family Workshop Program. The New York Art Residency and Studios (NARS) Foundation is a nonprofit arts organization committed to supporting artists and curators on an international level as well as engaging in the local community in Brooklyn and NYC. Their Free Family Saturday Workshop seeks to provide greater accessibility to contemporary arts and to encourage stronger community engagement. At my workshop we made and decorated paper by recycling newspapers and marbled paper!
Sophia has taught marbling classes at the Hetrick-Martin Institute's After School Open Art Studio Program. The Hetrick-Martin Institute (HMI) is the oldest and largest organization helping gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ) youth. HMI creates a safe and supportive environment in which LGBTQ youths, between the ages of 13-24 and their families, can achieve their full potential.
Sophia hosted an intro to marbling workshop with DreamStreet Theatre Company, a nonprofit organization that provides education and inspiration for developmentally disabled individuals with a passion for performance and the arts.
